Scope & preparation
When this is useful
Press wires distribute announcements through specified networks or feeds. They may suit a release that needs broad, documented circulation, but network distribution is not the same as a journalist independently covering the story. Understanding package boundaries before submission avoids misleading expectations.
How ADPR can help
ADPR can assist with wire coordination, formatting requirements and approval of release material. Geography, language, word limits, multimedia options and reporting should be agreed before purchase. Provider charges and ADPR’s coordination scope need to be distinguished in the proposal.
A typical process
Define audience geography, language and distribution requirements.
Check the selected provider’s submission rules and charges.
Approve the final release and review the provider’s distribution report.
What to prepare
- Final or near-final release text
- Required geography and language
- Image rights, credits and billing approval
Possible scope outputs
- Wire-scope comparison
- Submission-ready release package
- Provider report review
The proposal will confirm what is included, who is responsible and the applicable timeline. These are scope examples, not a fixed package.
Questions worth asking
Is a wire pickup an endorsement?
No. Republishing a distributed release does not establish independent editorial endorsement of the company or its claims.
Can the release be changed after submission?
That depends on the provider and stage of distribution. Confirm correction procedures before approving the final copy.
